Pros
  • Complex fruit profile
  • Pairing of fruit and floral notes

The Sudan Rumé varietal is one of the most special in coffee. Not only is it rare, but it is incredibly delicious. At least one Sudan Rumé coffee makes my top 10 list of coffees every year. The producer growing likely the best Sudan Rumé you can find is Inmaculada Coffee Farms out of Colombia. This coffee is an anaerobic natural process from Inmaculada and is part of their Family Reserve line of coffees.

The Sudan Rumé varietal is known for its bold aromatics and this coffee does not disappoint there. It starts with bright and bold tropical fruit aromatics that remind me of sweet mango and pineapple. The flavor is very juicy and fruit-forward with notes of tropical fruits like mango and papaya paired with berries like raspberry. It has these bold tropical and berry notes all while still having strong floral supports, which creates a dynamic and exciting cup. The acidity is punchy with notes of lemon citrus and a full body. The sweetness is pointed throughout each sip with a beautiful pairing of tropical florals. Overall the coffee’s incredibly complex and evolving fruit profile paired with strong floral notes reminds me a lot of a high-end Geisha though with a bit more boldness and sweetness.

The Bottom Line

I’ve loved the Sudan Rumé varietal for years and I’ve never been disappointed by anything I’ve brewed from Inmaculada. This coffee is no exception and is a worthy addition to the Pull & Pour Coffee Club special release line-up.
