Pros

  • Intense sweetness
  • Rich, juicy body

I had heard countless amazing things over the past few months about Lee and the coffee he was roasting at Quietly Coffee, so I was extremely excited to get to try their entire lineup a few weeks back. From Kenya to Honduras and naturals to washed, Quietly Coffee had an impressive lineup of coffees. Each was impressive, but this Sugar Mountain from Colombia stood out as a highlight for me.

Upon opening the bag, I was immediately met with a very sweet fragrance full of tropical fruit, mango and chocolate notes. After brewing, the flavor was incredibly tasty. It had a rich, juicy body and a sweetness that was quite intense and full of tropical fruit notes. The acidity was quite strong throughout and in the flavor I tasted notes of tropical fruit, stone fruit, berries and most predominantly kiwi. Kiwi is a flavor I rarely identify with coffee, but the tropical fruit notes paired with the juiciness of the coffee brought of strong memories of kiwi for me. The sweetness lingered in the finish, as well as the sparkle from the acidity.

The Bottom Line

Sugar Mountain was an extremely tasty coffee with complex fruit notes, intense sweetness and a wonderfully rich and juicy body. It joined a great collection from Quietly Coffee and I can’t wait to try more of their coffee in the future.
