Cons
Followers of Pull & Pour will know I have been a fan of OZO Coffee for quite some time. I’ve reviewed their coffee in the past and have tried many of their coffees through the years. They consistently impress with their offerings and this coffee is no different. While it doesn’t have the level of distinctiveness I’ve found in some of OZO’s previous coffees, it is still a really solid roast with a lot to offer.
From the beginning to the end of each sip, it has a really nice balance that helps bring everything together. OZO describes the acidity as “a sparkling strawberry acidity” and I understand how they came to that description. There is a crispness to the acidity that reminds me of biting into a fresh strawberry with a tingle of acidity and a rush of sweetness.
The Bottom Line
On OZO’s site they divide their coffees into three categories: Welcoming & Approachable, Distinct & Well Defined, and Exotic & Lively. This one lives in the “Distinct & Well Defined” category, which is exactly where it belongs. It lacks some of the exotic flavor combinations and intense acidity found in other OZO Coffee’s I’ve had, but fits really nicely with the more traditional flavor profile for Central American coffees. It is a coffee worth trying, especially if you tend to prefer the more standard Central & South American coffee profile.
