This is the second post from the set of coffees I received from Conscious Coffees a few weeks ago. Be sure to check out the first review to learn more about Conscious Coffees and the awesome work they are doing.
This second coffee was an organic, washed coffee from Colombia. It started out with a pretty intense fruit aroma—almost like cherry pie. Once roasted the aroma became less sweet and took on some nice roasted/toasty characteristics. The aroma was one of the best, most complex elements of the coffee, I thought.
As I started to drink the coffee, it had some nice dried fruit sweetness with some nutty/cocoa undertones. It had a lighter body—almost took weak—and a brisk acidity that lingered into the aftertaste. While drinking the coffee, the sweetness stood out most to me. It was a richer sweetness—not fruity, but like a really good dark chocolate.
The Bottom Line
Like the first coffee I reviewed from Conscious Coffees, this was an excellent coffee that did well in all of the categories. It lacked a bit of the complexity in flavor and depth to its body, but made up for it with its wonderful aroma and sweetness. It’s a coffee worth trying for sure.
