Pros

  • Boisterous sweetness
  • Thick, heavy mouthfeel

I always love to explore new origins, processing methods and varietals of coffee. Yellow Pacamara is a relatively new variety of coffee discovered by the Mierisch Family at their Limoncillo farm. Pacamara is the more common, large bean hybrid variety created in El Salvador. Yellow Pacamara cherries are similar to the more common Pacamara variety, but are yellow when ripe versus red. I have tried a variety of Pacamara coffees in the past, but had never had a chance to try a Yellow Pacamara. This coffee is grown at Finca La Huella in Nicaragua by the Mierisch Family and roasted by Paradise Coffee Roasters.

The coffee has a strong fragrance of sweet peach tea, stone fruit and is quite fruit-forward. The flavor is amazing with notes of lemon citrus and stone fruit. The cup is big and bold with a strong citrus-toned acidity, a very thick body and mouth-coating body. The sweetness has a very high intensity with caramel and fruit notes. The coffee has some really nice flavor depth and I enjoyed it in a wide variety of pour over methods.

The Bottom Line

Trying new varieties of coffee is always exciting and this Yellow Pacamara from the Mierisch Family and Paradise Coffee Roasters did not disappoint. The boisterous sweetness, intense fruit notes and heavy mouthfeel was a true delight to enjoy.
