Disclosure: Pull & Pour received coffee samples for this post, however, as always, all opinions are 100% my own.
I’ve shared recently how much I enjoy Costa Rican coffees for their intense sweetness and incredible fruit-forward profiles. This Costa Rican coffee from producer Don Martin and roaster 19 Grams is a perfect example of a coffee in that profile.
The coffee began with a strong fragrance of sweet berries and subtle florals. The flavor was simply delicious with fruity candy-like notes that reminded me of watermelon sour patch kids. It had an incredible sweetness throughout that was quite berry-forward. It had a medium-full body and a juicy mouthfeel. The acidity was sweet-tart and lingered into the sweet finish. The coffee had layers of fruit notes that evolved as the coffee cooled creating a complex symphony of flavors in the cup.
The Bottom Line
My first experience with the H-17 varietal was an impressive onewith this delicious coffee from Don Martin and 19 Grams. It reinforced my love for Costa Rican coffees.
