Pros

  • Really nice, sweet aroma
  • Complex sweetness from beginning to end

Cons

  • Flavor lacks some excitement

Junto Coffee is a new roaster located in South Carolina. Read more about them in my first review. In this review I’ll be focusing on their current Colombian option, Los Huilenses, which is a collection of coffee from various farms in Suaza, La Plata, and La Argentina.

The coffee has a nice, strong aroma of berry sweetness. The body was thinner, but not too thin. My favorite attribute in the coffee was the complex sweetness. It had lots of nice, subtle fruit notes in the sweetness, which really enhanced the overall drinking experience. The overall flavor fell a bit short in my opinion and I would have liked a bit more complexity and depth to the flavors.

The Bottom Line

I recently did a coffee tasting with my extended family and this coffee was actually the favorite between the three options. I personally have tried a lot of Colombian coffees recently and this one was a bit weaker than some of the others. That said, it clearly is a really high-quality coffee with a lot to offer and one that is easy to drink.
