Pros
Campos Coffee is a roaster based out of Australia that used to have a United States presence in a few cities (in 2021 they were acquired and as part of that acquisition decided to close their US stores). In June I visited Salt Lake City, one of the cities that did have a Campos Coffee and was able to experience their cafe and try some of their coffee. I purchased this bag of naturally processed Colombian coffee to try some at home; it was an excellent choice.
The coffee began with a strong fragrance of tropical fruit & berries that was juicy and sweet. The flavor reminded me of tropical fruit, berries and sweet tart notes of grapefruit and orange. The body was light and smooth with a juicy and rich mouthfeel. The acidity was citrus-toned and reminded me of grapefruit. It was steady throughout with a crescendo at the finish which lingered with fruity sweetness.
The Bottom Line
This Colombian coffee was delicious. Its evolving fruit notes that changed throughout the sip and evolved as the coffee cooled were not only delicious, but incredibly fun coffee to explore. I’m sad Campos is no longer going to be easily available in the States.
