Pros
  • Rich mouthfeel & smooth sweetness
  • Balanced profile

This Colombia microlot from Yield Coffee was the December 2021 installment from Better Grounds, a subscription focused on organic coffees. Yield Coffee is a roaster based out of Cincinnati, Ohio and this was my first time getting to enjoy some of their coffee.

The coffee began with a sweet fragrance that reminded me of chocolate, almonds, and citrus. The flavor featured much of the same with added notes of dark fruits and vanilla. The mouthfeel was quite full & rich with a rich, caramel-toned sweetness supporting it. The finish was slightly dry and chocolate-toned.

The Bottom Line

This Colombian coffee was clean, balanced, and quite flexible. I enjoyed it in a lot of different brew methods and it was a good choice for a subscription needing to appeal to a wide variety of flavor preferences.
