Disclosure: This is a sponsored review. As always though, all opinions are 100% my own.

The Brew Company is a roaster based in Denmark that offers a wide range of coffees from origins around the world. In addition to whole bean coffee, they offer a really unique “brew in a bag” coffee option, which is great for travel or when on the go. I enjoyed trying coffee from Ethiopia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, Peru, and more. Most of the coffees are roasted medium or dark, which is a bit darker than my preferred roast level for pour over, but many were excellent when dialed in on espresso. They have a mix of roast profiles and many are tailored specifically for espresso. This Peruvian coffee especially was delightful with espresso.

It was very enjoyable as straight espresso but also work quite nicely as a milk carrier. It had a sharp lime acidity that was balanced with some creamy chocolate notes. I also tasted notes of raisins and brown sugar, which added to the depth of the flavor profile.

I also tried the coffee in pour over with the v60. The roast was a bit darker than my preference for filter brews, but still created a really nice cup of coffee. The lime acidity came through in pour over, as well as notes of rich dark chocolate.

The Bottom Line

I love an espresso that can stand on its own, but also allows for excellent milk-based drinks. This Peruvian espresso roast from The Brew Company did just that. It was a bag I worked through quickly on my Ascaso Steel DUO espresso machine after dialing in the shot.
