Disclosure: Pull & Pour received coffee samples for this post, however, as always, all opinions are 100% my own.
This Colombian coffee consists of 100% of the Java varietal, a rare and challenging to grow varietal that originated in Ethiopia. This one from Greenglass Coffee Company is big, bold, and a lot of fun.
The coffee begins with an intensely rich & boozy fragrance that reminded me of berries, semi-sweet chocolate, and subtle tropical fruit. The flavor was intensely sweet and slightly funky with notes of raspberry, lemon drops, citrus & berries. The fruit-toned sweetness was strong throughout and evolved as the coffee cooled. The acidity was crisp throughout and fairly intense at the front of each sip. The medium-full body supported a rich, syrupy mouthfeel that complimented the sweetness wonderfully.
The Bottom Line
This was one of the more intense cups I’ve had in a while. It had a wonderful complexity and uniqueness that I really enjoyed. This isn’t necessarily a daily drinker, but if you enjoy big, bold, and sweet coffees, this is a great one to mix into your brewing routine.
