Disclosure: Pull & Pour received coffee samples for this post, however, as always, all opinions are 100% my own.
While single origins are always my go-to, I love a quality blend that is able to bring out the best attributes in multiple coffees in a single experience. I think the Blissful Ballad Blend, a mix of two washed coffees from Nicaragua and Peru, did a nice job of that.
The coffee begins with a sweet-toned, malty fragrance that reminded me of raisins. The flavor reminded me of chocolate, cashews, grains/malts and gala apples. The acidity was steady and balanced and shined a bit more in the finish of each sip. The body was fairly full with a nice, rounded mouthfeel. The sweetness was chocolate-toned with a nice caramel nature to it. The blend was very well balanced and created an extremely approachable coffee. I enjoyed it as a pour over, but really thought it was well-suited for cold brew where the mellow chocolate and malty notes created a smooth, easy drinking coffee.
The Bottom Line
This is a wonderfully approachable blend that was easy to drink and very flexible and forgiving during brewing.
