Pros
Rabbit Hole is a Canadian roaster I had the chance to try in the past, but had heard over and over again their Chinese coffees were some of the most unique and interesting around. I’m always excited to try wild and exotic coffees, so I was excited to pick up a bag of their two current Chinese offerings: Lafu and Yi Wu. Both were unique and delicious coffees, but Yi Wu was so exotic and wild, I knew I had to feature it on the site.
The coffee begins with a sweet fragrance that was a mix of nutty notes and tropical fruit. The flavor was extremely exciting and featured a rich caramel sweetness and I tasted notes of tropical fruit and berry—both of which became more pronounced and sweeter as the coffee cooled.
It had a medium body and the acidity was present, but not too strong. I was impressed with how clean and balanced the coffee was even with its wild nature and everything it had going on.
The Bottom Line
This coffee was incredibly fun to explore. It was fruit-forward, but unique from the many other fruit-forward naturally processed coffees I’ve tried in the past. If you enjoy exotic coffees, this is absolutely one worth exploring.
