TIMEMORE Black Mirror Duo Coffee Scale

Precise Brewing Without the Fuss

When it comes to coffee gear, a good scale is one of the most underrated tools you can own. The TIMEMORE Black Mirror DUO does more than just get the job done—it adds precision and clarity throughout the brewing process. With its minimalist design, responsive sensors, and thoughtful features, it’s a scale that feels made for the modern home brewer.

Here’s a closer look at what the DUO offers, what it’s missing, and who it’s best for.

Features of the Black Mirror DUO Scale

At first glance, the Black Mirror DUO shares the same clean, minimalist aesthetic as other TIMEMORE gear—sharp edges, matte black finish, and an intuitive LED display. Here are some features specific to the DUO scale though:

TIMEMORE Black Mirror Duo Coffee Scale - Dual Sensor

Dual Sensors
The “DUO” in the name refers to its dual sensor system. One sensor measures the total water you pour, while the other tracks the drawdown weight—how much coffee ends up in your server or cup. This dual measurement lets you see how much of your water actually makes it through the coffee bed, which is incredibly useful for fine-tuning recipes and understanding extraction.

Auto-Timer Functionality
The scale features automatic timing that begins as soon as you start pouring. No need to fumble with buttons mid-pour. It’s one of those little features that can make a big difference in maintaining a smooth, focused workflow.

TIMEMORE Black Mirror Duo Coffee Scale - Fast Response

Fast, Accurate Response
The DUO is both quick and sensitive, offering 0.1g accuracy with a maximum capacity of 2kg. The response time is near-instant, which means you’re not left waiting for the weight to “catch up” with your pour. That accuracy and speed matter when you’re trying to hit precise ratios or monitor flow rates.

TIMEMORE Black Mirror Duo Coffee Scale - USB-C Charing

USB-C Charging and Battery Life
With USB-C charging, the DUO keeps up with modern gear standards. Battery life is solid, and it includes an auto-off function to help extend time between charges.

TIMEMORE Black Mirror Duo Coffee Scale - Water Resistance

Water-Resistant Surface
The scale is splash-resistant, which is great for everyday use. While it’s not fully waterproof, the surface can handle a few stray drops from your kettle without issue.

What’s in the Box

Here’s what you get when you open the box:

  • The TIMEMORE Black Mirror DUO scale (scale + stand)
  • A USB-C charging cable
  • A silicone heat pad to protect the scale surface from hot brewers
  • A simple instruction manual

Everything is packaged neatly and with care—no clutter, no unnecessary extras. Just the essentials.

What I Love About the Black Mirror DUO

  • Designed for Pour-Over. This scale feels like it was made with pour-over brewers in mind. The dual weight tracking makes it easier to understand the relationship between water input and coffee output, and how different variables affect drawdown and extraction. While the dual scale isn’t something I use with every brew, it is a nice option to have when I want to dig into a brew a bit more.
  • Clean Aesthetic and Solid Build. The matte black finish and hidden LED display give it a modern, understated look. It’s slim enough to fit easily into a small brewing station but has enough heft to feel sturdy and hold up.
  • Intuitive and User-Friendly. There’s no learning curve with this scale. It turns on quickly, starts timing automatically, and just works. That simplicity is a major plus, not always found in new tech-focused accessories.
  • No app integration. You’ll see I also included this in the limitations below. For me, not having app integration is a benefit because it simplifies a product that should have a very utilitarian function. Not having an app and the features it brings could be a limitation for some, though.

What Is Lacking in the Black Mirror DUO

As strong as the DUO is, it’s not without a few limitations:

  • No App Integration. The DUO doesn’t connect to any brewing apps or smart devices. For me, this is a plus—less tech means less hassle. But if you’re looking for data tracking or recipe syncing, you won’t find it here.
  • No Brew Modes or Customization. What you see is what you get. The DUO doesn’t offer customizable brew modes or saved profiles. It’s designed to be simple, which is great for most brewers, but some users might find it a bit limited.
  • Display Visibility in Bright Light. The LED display is usually clear and easy to read, but it can get a little hard to see under direct sunlight or in very bright environments. If your brew bar is near a sunny window, this might be something to consider.

Who Should Buy the Black Mirror DUO

The DUO is an ideal fit for:

  • Home brewers who love pour-over and want more insight into their brew mechanics
  • Design-conscious coffee drinkers looking for gear that looks as good as it performs
  • Anyone who prefers simple, reliable tools without app requirements or complex setup

It’s especially valuable for those experimenting with ratios, grind size, or pour techniques, as the dual sensor system gives you more data to work with—without requiring you to do any extra math.

Conclusion

I like the TIMEMORE Black Mirror DUO scale a lot. While the dual scales is probably overkill for some brewers, it offers valuable insights to others. Even if you never take advantage of the dual scales, the fast response time, easy-to-use interface, and solid design of the coffee stand make the DUO a great option for almost any pour over brewer.
