Disclosure: Pull & Pour received coffee samples for this post, however, as always, all opinions are 100% my own.
Ever since Colorfull Coffee burst into the scene earlier this year with their Sun Blood Decaf, I’ve been excited to give them a try. I had my chance when they sent this special Mexican Geisha. They offer both the washed and natural versions of the coffee; I got to try the washed variation.
The coffee begins with a rich, slightly earthy fragrance that was chocolaty and floral. The flavor was very clean and crisp with notes of chocolate, almond, floral and subtle fruit. It was incredibly smooth with a very elegant flavor profile. The acidity was balanced and the body was a wonderfully unique combination of crisp and creamy. It had a raw sugar sweetness and a lingering floral aftertaste. While the coffee was incredibly balanced and approachable, it was also surprisingly complex. I continued to discover new aspects of the coffee with every brew and it took a few to really dial it in to perfection.
The Bottom Line
My experience with Mexican coffees to date has been a bit lack-luster and this washed Geisha was definitely one of the best Mexican coffees I’ve ever had. It’s crisp complexity paired with its balanced approachability made it a true delight to brew. I can’t wait to see what Colorfull Coffee comes out with next.
