Pros
I’ve had the pleasure to try a variety of LAMILL coffees over the past few months and each has been a stunner (their Panama Vista Barú Geisha was one of my favorite coffees of 2021). Their track record paired with my love of honey-processed Costa Rican coffees gave me high expectations for this coffee—and it did not disappoint.
The coffee began with a lime citrus fragrance that was crisp, sweet, and creamy. The profile reminded me a lot of an east African coffee (which could partly be from the SL-28 variety). It featured complex fruit notes that reminded me of blackberries, raisins, and lime; as it cooled, the lime notes became a lot more pronounced. It had a rounded, juicy mouthfeel and a rich sweetness that carried through many of the complex fruit notes. The finish lingered with strong acidity and sweetness.
The Bottom Line
This was an incredibly complex coffee with a lot of layered fruit notes coming together in the unified profile. I featured a lot of what I love in Costa Rican coffees and aligned with the quality I’ve come to expect from LAMILL.
