Pros
Salvador is another wonderful coffee from the variety I got to try from Kona Roasted. Even though both Ka’u Natural (the first Kona Roasted coffee I reviewed) and Salvador are both grown in Hawaii, they have an incredibly different profile and were very fun to contrast together.
Salvador began with a complex aroma of vanilla and baking spices that was creamy and sweet. In the flavor I tasted baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice) and a really nice sweetness. It was floral-toned and a really unique combination of flavors. The coffee had a gentle, round acidity and a medium body. The sweetness was rich and fully of caramel notes. The resonant finish centered around cashews and the continued baking spices.
The Bottom Line
I really enjoyed this coffee because of the unique combination of flavors. It had such personality and was unique yet incredibly approachable and balanced. As with each of the Kona Roasted coffees, it redefined what can be expected from the Hawaiian origin if grown, harvested and roasted correctly.
