Pitsuwan Chiang Rai Natural Thailand is the first coffee I tried with my Crema.co subscription. I recently tried another Thai coffee from Messenger Coffee Co. and was really impressed, so I was intrigued to try another.
Pitsuwan begins with a sweet, berry and citrus/pineapple fragrance that becomes more nutty during brewing. As I began to drink the coffee, I tasted blueberry, lemon and a lot of sweetness overall. The coffee has a sharp acidity at the front (similar to biting into a piece of pineapple) that drops off fairly quickly. It has a light body and tea-like structure. In general the finish is surprisingly quick, but does have a very subtle sparkle that lingers just a bit.
Like Sirinya from Messenger, Pitsuwan is exotic with a unique combination of both flavors and attributes overall. It has a lot of complexity and was a fun coffee to explore. West Oak describes the coffee as “swanky” and I think that is a perfect description.
The Bottom Line
Exotic coffees like this definitely are not for everyone. If you prefer a balanced, clean, chocolatey coffee from Central America, this coffee probably wouldn’t be a good fit for you. If you like to explore exotic and unique coffees though, this one is a great one to sample.
