Cons
  • Lacks some of the complexity and body found in other specialty cold brews

Today’s cold brew review features Hey Day’s Original cold brew coffee. It’s made from fair trade coffee with just a little added sweetness (1g pure cane sugar). Clean, crisp & smooth, it is refreshing and perfect for a hot summer afternoon. I loved the flavor, though the body felt a bit weak. The complexity was a bit lacking compared to some of the higher-end cold brews I’ve tried recently, but it was still a really nice, easy-drinking cold brew for a hot summer day. The retail price is around $3/can, but you can easily find it on sale for closer to $2, which is one of the best prices you’ll find for a cold brew of this quality. They also have a variety of flavors if you prefer a bit more sweetness in your cold brew, including Caramel, Dirty Chai, Espresso, Vanilla & Salted Mocha.

The Bottom Line

Hey Day’s Original cold brew coffee isn’t the best cold brew I’ve tried recently, but may be the best at the $2-3/can price point. It lacks some of the complexity and body that other specialty cold brews have, but still has a good flavor that is smooth and very enjoyable to drink.
