Disclosure: Pull & Pour received coffee samples for this post, however, as always, all opinions are 100% my own.
Snapchilled has been going crazy with their collaborations this year and it is so exciting to see all sorts of roasters partnering with them to create delicious cold variations of some excellent coffees. Little Wolf is a roaster based Ipswich, Massachusetts who I’ve had the privilege to try a few times because a local cafe features them occasionally. Since I knew their regular whole bean coffee was top-notch, I was excited to see how it translated to being chilled and canned.
The coffee is their Companion Blend, which changes seasonally, but always features “two coffees that are ‘companions’; similar but different enough to come together and make something more than the sum of their parts.”1 In the current Snapchilled coffee that is a Colombian and Ethiopian coffee (60% Washed Colombia – “Labayano” & 40% Natural Ethiopia – Sidamo “Der Feres”).
The coffee has a delightful brightness at the front of each sip that features crisp lemon citrus. It has a surprisingly cream mouthfeel and some strong fruit-forward berry notes in the flavor. The berry sweetness in the coffee is quite pronounced, but the coffee is very approachable and balanced. It is a crisp, yet creamy combination that is refreshing and delicious.
The Bottom Line
Little Wolf’s Snapchilled Companion Blend followed in the footsteps of the other great Snapchilled coffees I’ve tried and did not disappoint. In flavor, acidity and aromatics, it was on par with what I’d expect from a great flash brew.
