Pros
Black & White has been a favorite roaster of mine over the past few years and I love exploring the unique variety of coffees they constantly are sourcing and roasting. A few weeks back I tried a set of their current offerings and was quite impressed with many of them. There was a good number of anaerobic coffees, which are always fun and unique, but it was this classic, washed Colombian Gesha that really stood out to me.
The coffee begins with a tea-like fragrance that is delicate yet structured with strong floral notes. The flavor is refined with notes of sweet lemon, stone fruit, black tea, and floral undertones. The acidity is crisp with a bit of an edge and contrasted with a light body. The sweetness was quite nice with a sugary profile.
The Bottom Line
Overall this was an incredibly clean coffee and aligned well with my expectations for a “classic” gesha. It had some good depth of flavor & evolved nicely as it cooled. It’s been added to my list of high-quality coffees from Black & White for sure.
