Pros
Noble Coffee has been a long time favorite of mine and everything they roast is top notch. I’m always especially been fond of their African coffees, which constantly are some of the best around. I recently used this Kenyan Muiri Estate Peaberry coffee in an article and video about tasting notes and wanted to put together a full review because it was such a solid coffee.
The coffee begins with a fragrance full of chocolate, citrus and especially floral notes; it was slightly vegetal with almost tomato-like notes. The fragrance, while unique, didn’t accurately represent the quality to come though, I thought. The flavor was incredibly rich, complex, unique and delicious. It reminded me of berries, meyer lemons and tomato. Tomato is a unique flavor attribute in coffee, but one I’ve come to really appreciate after enjoying it in an El Salvadorian coffee from Sump Coffee last year. It adds a complexity and depth to the coffee that I really appreciate. The coffee had a strong acidity that reminded me of grapefruit and a full, juicy mouthfeel that was satin smooth and quite rich. The finish sat heavy on the tongue and left my mouth with a tart sweetness. The coffee was incredibly flexible and worked in every pour over method I threw at it, but also made a delicious espresso.
The Bottom Line
Kenyan Muiri Estate delivered what I’ve always come to expect with Noble Coffee now: a complex, delicious and unique coffee that was roasted to perfection.
