Cat & Cloud is a funky roaster based out of Santa Cruz, California. They have been on my Crema.co playlist from the beginning and I was excited when this Kenyan peaberry coffee finally made it to the top.
The coffee begins with a strong fragrance consisting of floral notes with some subtle citrus undertones. The flavor was juicy, tart and full of tropical fruit notes—especially pineapple. The body was silky and light, though not thin at all. I loved the acidity, which was strong, but not sharp; instead it was sweet and full of citrus notes. The coffee was very sweet, with a tart, lemonade sweetness.
The Bottom Line
Kenya Karimikui Peaberry was one of the first Kenyan Peaberry coffees I’ve ever had. I was impressed with how unique it was from other Kenyans I’ve had. I enjoyed the coffee a lot and look forward to continuing to explore it as I work through the bag.
