Kingdom Coffee is a speciality coffee roaster located in Springfield, Missouri. A friend from the area recently shared a bag with us and I thought I’d put it through the review process.
This coffee was a washed coffee from the San Miguel region on Honduras. When dry, the coffee began with a nice, nutty aroma that was a bit more mild. While brewing the aroma evolved into a sweeter, honey-like aroma that had some nice complexity to it.
As I started to drink the coffee it had a nice balanced set of flavors including cocoa, with a well-balanced citrus acidity. The characteristic that stood out most to me was the coffee’s body though. Recently I’ve been drinking a lot of dry-processed coffees that have a fruity flavor and lighter body. This coffee had a creamy, heavier mouthfeel which contrasted them starkly and was a really nice change of pace.
The Bottom Line
While none of its individual characteristics stood out as particularity exceptional & it lacked some complexity in certain areas, this was a really nice, well-balanced coffee that seemed to do everything pretty well—balanced flavors, nice sweetness, and an overall clean cup.
