Pros

  • Banana flavor notes
  • Most existing coffee I’ve tried from Honduras this year

I recently wrote a review about Amity’s Costa Rican natural coffee and usually don’t stack reviews from the same roaster so close together. This naturally processed coffee from Honduras was too good to pass up though.

The coffee begins with a fragrance of unmistakable banana bread. It was incredibly sweet and had undertones of milk chocolate. The flavor had more of the same with notes of banana that were stronger than anything I’ve tasted in a coffee before. I also tasted notes of chocolate, dried fruit and strawberries. The coffee was very bright, but not overpowering. It had a juicy body and a sweetness of over ripe bananas. The finish lingered and was sweet as the taste of banana bread lingers in your mouth. While banana was clearly the dominate flavor in my opinion, the coffee did have some nice layering and complexity in its sweetness and flavor profile. I had the opportunity to try it in a variety of brew methods from pour over to AeroPress to espresso to flash brew. The coffee shined in all of them.

The Bottom Line

This was by far the most exciting Honduran coffee I’ve tried this year. The natural processing produced an incredible flavor combination that surprised and delighted with every brew method I tried.
