Pros
La Cosecha is a local St. Louis roaster I’ve been going to since my journey into specialty coffee began. They have a wonderful café space paired with a local bakery, which is always fun to stop by with the family.
This washed Guatemalan began with a rich and creamy fragrance that reminded me of chocolate, hazelnuts, and marshmallow. The flavor was rich with notes of chocolate, almonds, and raw sugar. It had a steady acidity and a light, silky body. The coffee was prominently chocolate-toned, which was highlighted most in the rich sweetness. Overall the coffee was incredibly approachable and balanced with all of the flavor attributes working perfectly in harmony together.
The Bottom Line
This coffee would appeal to a broad swath of coffee drinkers. Its chocolate profile and approachable profile would appeal to a broad base, but it had enough complexity to intrigue even more refined palettes.
