Ethiopia Wush Wush – Felix Roasting Co

Felix Roasting Co is a roaster based out of New York and one that likely wins the prize for the most elegant coffee packaging I have ever seen. Every bag of coffee (which in and of itself is beautiful) is contained within a sophisticated and ornate tube. It feels like a premium coffee from first glance.

The coffee begins with a sweet, lemon citrus and orange fragrance that had notes of berry and chocolate as well. In the flavor I tasted a surprising note of melon (specifically cantaloupe), mild citrus and floral aromatics. Melon is a flavor note I am not sure I have ever tasted in a coffee and was a delightful surprise to unwrap. It came through in the honey melon sweetness and lingered in the long aftertaste. It help lead to a unique profile, but one that was incredibly balanced and approachable. While I enjoyed the coffee most in a variety of different pour over methods, it also created a very clean and balanced espresso.

The Bottom Line

Whenever I find a beautifully packaged coffee, I am always concerned the level of care that went into the package won’t be reflected in the coffee. I was so happy that wasn’t the case with this delicious coffee from Felix Roasting Co.
