Pros
This was a second coffee I received from Honey & Roses, a marketplace for boutique businesses. The first was another naturally processed Ethiopian coffee, as well. This one comes from a small roaster out of Las Vegas, Yaw Farm.
The coffee began with a sweet fragrance with notes of berries, raisins and dried fruit. During brewing, notes of orange citrus emerged as well. In the flavor I tasted bright notes of blueberry and some subtle tropical fruits. There was a bright, orange-toned citrus acidity throughout that was fairly balanced, but pronounced. The body was medium and smooth and the sweetness fruit-forward, fairly strong and lingered into the finish. There wasn’t a lot of evolution in the cup, but it did have some nice layering of flavors.
The Bottom Line
This Organic Ardi Sidama fit within the expectations for a naturally processed coffee from Ethiopia. It was bright, berry-forward and sweet. It lacked a bit of complexity and uniqueness, but it still was incredibly tasty to drink.
