What’s your favorite type of coffee? For me, it’s a naturally processed Ethiopian. There are many other great origins and processing methods out there, but a natural Ethiopian will always be first in my heart. That’s why I get so excited whenever I try an excellent natural Ethiopian (which has been harder to find recently)—especially ones that harken back to the blueberry bombs of old so many of us loved so much. This Ethiopian from the Sidama region does just that.

The coffee begins with bold aromatics that are sweet and full of rich berries and floral undertones. The flavor brings out more of the rich berries notes with bold notes of blueberry & blackberry. Sweet floral notes that remind me of honeysuckle compliment the berry notes. The mouthfeel is big and creamy with a satiny texture to it and is accented by a steady and sparkling acidity. The coffee is clean, exceptionally well-balanced, and wonderfully sweet with a heavy sweetness that compliments the flavor profile and mouthfeel perfectly.

The Bottom Line

Everything in this coffee works so well together. The bold flavor notes are supported by the big mouthfeel and accented by a sparkling acidity throughout. The combination results in a balanced and exciting cup that reminds me why I love naturally processed Ethiopian coffees so much.
