Pros

  • Strong, fruity aroma
  • Jammy flavor notes

Based in Bangkok, Kohi Roastery is the first Thailand roaster I’ve had the opportunity to try. I recently had a chance to try a few of their current Kenyan coffees, as well as a Thailand option. My plan was to feature the Thailand coffee, which was quite good; it’s always unique to feature a coffee from the roaster’s origin. After trying this Kenyan though, I knew I needed to highlight this one.

The fragrance was strong, sweet and filled with fruit notes—both berry and tropical. In the flavor I tasted similar notes of berry and tropical fruit. It was an extremely jammy coffee with strong, fruity sweetness. It was a light to medium body and the acidity was strong, yet balanced throughout. It had a lingering finish that featured the fruity acidity to the end. There was not an extreme amount of evolution in flavor throughout the cup, but the layering of flavors added some nice complexity.

The Bottom Line

Jammy, fruit-forward coffees are some of my favorite and this Kenyan from Kohi Roastery delivered big time. It was extremely tasty and so much fun to explore.
