Pros
I love trying coffees from around the world and coffee roasted by roasters around the world. Yonder Coffee is a subscription I’ve had for years that allows me to do that. The August 2021 coffee was a naturally processed coffee from Guatemala and roasted by Obidiah Coffee out of Edinburgh, Scotland.
The coffee began with a wonderful fragrance that was sweet and full of notes of tropical fruit & pineapple. The flavor featured a bit more muted notes of the tropical fruit, as well as dark berries and dark chocolate. The coffee was rich with a medium body and silky mouthfeel. The acidity was citrus-toned and a bit sharper at the front. It had a syrupy fruit-toned sweetness that lingered into the finish. The coffee had a lovely complexity in flavor profile and the depth/evolution of the fruit notes was exciting to explore.
The Bottom Line
Obidiah did a great job roasting this coffee to be both complex, but also very approachable. It’s a coffee a wide variety of coffee drinkers would enjoy.
