Edison Coffee Co. is a coffee roaster located in Flower Mound, Texas. Their bold brand and packaging immediately grabbed my attention when I saw it on Instagram. This AAA/AA coffee from Zambia is as bold as their brand and was incredibly enjoyable to drink.

The coffee hits you right away with a very strong aroma that has a nice mixture of floral and berry notes, which carry into the flavor. I tasted strong notes of blueberry & raspberry initially with floral notes becoming more pronounced as the coffee cools. It has a nice, strong acidity, but not as pronounced as other naturally processed coffees I’ve had. The aftertaste was one of my favorite elements of the coffee. It had a wonderful sparkling acidity with some subtle floral rose notes that were really nice as you finished each sip.

The two areas the coffee fell a bit short were in the sweetness and body. The coffee had a very subtle, vanilla sweetness, but I would have liked a bit more. The body was also just on the thin side—though that is a bit harder to discern given how light the body can and usually is for a naturally processed coffee.

The Bottom Line

AAA/AA Zambia was a wonderful coffee that excelled in a lot of areas. If you like bright, fruity coffees, this is absolutely one to try. It fits the typical description for naturally processed coffees from Africa, while also breaking the mold with some more unique floral notes. It is a coffee that is fun to explore and offers something new with every brew.
