Disclosure: Pull & Pour received coffee samples for this post, however, as always, all opinions are 100% my own.
Bespoken Coffee Roasters is a husband & wife team based out of Corvallis, Oregon. They just re-did their branding and the new design is fun and full of personality. I had a chance to recently try a few of their current coffees and this washed Ethiopian really caught my attention for its sweetness and fruit/floral combination.
The coffee began with a lovely fragrance that reminded me of stone fruit & milk chocolate with subtle citrus undertones. The flavor was a beautiful mix of fruit and floral notes. I tasted berries, stone fruit (peach and apricot), as well as delicate floral overtures, and subtle chocolate. The body was surprisingly syrupy especially as it cooled where it became almost silky in its mouthfeel. The acidity was citrus-toned and steady throughout the sip. The coffee was quite sweet and had a fruit-toned sweetness that finished in a florally sweet aftertaste.
The Bottom Line
Gogogu Bekaka fit the style of some of my favorite washed Ethiopian coffees. It was quite sweet and had a lovely play between the fruit and floral notes throughout every sip. Bespoken has done a great job making sure their coffees are not just beautiful on the outside with their new branding, but also taste fantastic.
