Nitro Cold Brew Coffee – Ferris Coffee

Ferris Coffee is a roaster based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I picked up a can of their Nitro Cold Brew when we visited their coffee shop on vacation. I thought it would be a great addition to the summer cold brew series—especially because it has been infused with nitrogen. I have tried various beers that have been canned with nitrogen, but never cold brew. I was interested if I could notice a difference—and I absolutely could. The cold brew was incredibly smooth. While it wasn’t as creamy as a nitro coffee from the tap, it was much creamier than a normal canned cold brew.

In addition to a lovely, creamy and smooth mouthfeel, the coffee had some really nice complexity. It had some subtle brightness, a rich, chocolatey flavor profile and a nice burst of acidity at the finish.

The Bottom Line

I wish this cold brew was available around me because I would absolutely buy more. This has been one of my favorite canned cold brews to date. The extra creaminess from the nitrogen makes a big difference in the mouthfeel and the Central and South America coffee used in it is clearly high-quality with a lot of complexity. If you live around the Grand Rapids area or are traveling through, be sure to pick up some of this cold brew.
