Fruit Loops Latte

Cereal milk is quite possibly one of the greatest drink imaginable. The sweet sugar from the cereal mixed with the creamy goodness of milk creates a combination that is hard to beat. Ever since watching the episode of Chef’s Table on Neflix featuring Milk Bar and their amazing cereal milk inspired desserts, the idea of using it in recipes has always fascinated me. A few months back, I saw Cirque Coffee Roasters feature some amazing cereal milk-inspired lattes and I knew I had to give them a try. The recipe couldn’t be any simpler and the result couldn’t be more delicious.

Why Fruit Loops?

When making this drink, really any cereal will do. Generally the sweeter the cereal, the better in order to get all of the sugary goodness in the milk. Fruit Loops is my favorite cereal, so it was the one I tried. Other cereals that I am sure would be delicious and give the latte their own twist are: Life, Cookie Crisp, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Fruity Pebbles.

What coffee should you use?

As with the cereal, really any coffee will do. A few suggestions though:

How long should the cereal soak?

It is really hard to mess up this recipe. Whether you let the cereal soak for 5 minutes or 30 minutes, the result will still be delicious. I found 10-15 minutes to be a good happy medium though. If you want some extra goodness in your milk, you can swirl and mash the cereal a bit during the soaking to try to get as much flavor and sugar into the milk.
